Safford House

The Safford House is located near the heart of the Arts District in Portland, ME. Built in 1858, the house was designed by Charles Alexander, a prominent local architect in the mid-1800s. The interior was significantly altered c.1880 after its purchase by William F Moulton, a partner in a Portland brokerage and banking firm. The former dwelling was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969 as part of the Spring Street Historic District. In 2009 Greater Portland Landmarks (GPL) purchased the property for their headquarters. John and Al worked with Wright Ryan to replace the existing deteriorated roofing; restore the existing wood cornice; brick chimneys and integral copper gutter and leader system.
